WineGB Pruning Competiton

WineGB’s 2026 Pruning Competition – “Battle of the Secateurs” is a hands-on viticulture challenge taking place on 6th March 2026 at Denbies Wine Estate in Surrey.
Designed to promote excellence in vineyard pruning, the event invites both individual contestants and teams to demonstrate their skills on a set of vines, with competitors judged on quality of work, cane selection and timing. Participants compete for the title of Vine Pruner of the Year, with prizes awarded to the top finishers. The competition celebrates the technical expertise involved in vine care and brings together growers from across the UK wine community.
