BerryWorld celebrates 30th birthday and reflects on its collaboration with FareShare

While celebrating its 30th birthday, BerryWorld has reflected on the ongoing collaboration with the UK’s largest charity fighting hunger and food waste, FareShare.
BerryWorld said that since 2020, the teams have been working together to ensure that surplus berries from our UK growers do not go to waste but instead go to people and communities who need them most.
This year feels especially meaningful, as FareShare is also marking its 30th year of supporting communities.
A spokesperson for BerryWorld said: “Our shared milestone reminds us of how far we’ve come together.
“This past summer was a record-breaking one, with BerryWorld’s delicious fresh strawberries helping to support the highest-ever volumes of fresh produce received by the FareShare network during a summer season.
“Knowing that our berries played a part in that achievement is incredibly rewarding.”
Good food not wasted
FareShare works with the food industry to rescue good-to-eat surplus food and redistribute it to over 8,000 charities and community groups across the UK.
From Scotland to Cornwall, this food makes its way to a wide range of people, from children at after-school clubs to elderly people attending community lunches and individuals experiencing homelessness.
Fresh fruits become part of hot meals at shelters, snacks for kids, and even meals at holiday clubs for children and their families.
